Christmas is a time for giving gifts, spending cozy nights with your loved ones, and watching a horde of minions, pyrotechnics, and a live elephant tell the story of Jesus' birth.

For one Houston megachurch, nothing says “Christmas” like intense SFX, a menagerie of live animals and flirting with copyright infringement over Universal’s IP.

“I knew my gg was a part of a mega church but every yr it gets more and more elaborate,” @theflatdecor captioned her video depicting Champion Forest Baptist Church’s x-treme X-Mas spectacular.

Yet more than this wide array of pomp and circumstance — one that comes with a $50-per-person price tag — several social media users were left with one question: Why?

“There was absolutely no need to have an elephant in the mega church,” noted one commenter, while another took issue with the revue’s high cost of entry.

“TICKETS FOR CHURCH??????” they wrote. “Are mega churches even about preaching about christ?”

While our non-religious a—es may never know what, exactly goes on in the hallowed halls of megachurches, one thing is certain — we can only hope that this house of worship will up the ante for 2024, wowing their audiences (and social media) by spearheading the charge for churches to pay their fair share of taxes.
